About Casa del Cielo

My name is Marzena and together with my husband Chris I am the owner of Casa del Cielo. I am a yoga teacher and practitioner, nutritionist of Traditional Chinese medicine and chef. Originally from Poland, for the past 5 years I have been living in Tenerife and previously in Denmark.

Casa del Cielo was born from my husband’s and mine need to find our new path in life. It was born out of love for yoga, nature and Tenerife and I am very curious and hopeful about where this path will lead us.

Casa del Cielo can be translated into “home under the heavens” and it reflects the location quite well. The place, finca as it is called here, is nestled on the side of a mountain  and is overlooking 180 degrees of the Atlantic ocean.  We are at the height of 1050 m above the sea level.

If you look at the back majestic, wild mountains are seen and pine forests. If we take a little walk to the side we can see the volcano Teide, the highest mountain in Spain.

Casa del Cielo is situated on the outskirts of the village, Tijoco Alto. If we drive down the road, after 5 kilometers we hit the motorway that surrounds the whole island. From here we can get to the beach within 10 minutes and to many hiking venues between 15 and 90 minutes.

When we first saw the place, there were two old ruined houses and nothing much more apart from the good energy that we intuitively felt. Partly the houses were built 200 years ago, the rest in the 80s. Both of them are of typical, traditional Canarian style.

We totally rebuilt both of them. Now the big house has 250m2, four rooms, 5 bathrooms, a big open kitchen, and a dining room. At the front there is a big wooden terrace, a swimming pool, and a pergola with a big table. The house is surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers and herbs.

Apart from the main and a small house, there is an activity room perfect for yoga/dance/pilates classes or as a meeting room for any kind of lectures or courses. It is nestled at the back of the property, in the middle of pure nature. All glass windows with views to the ocean and the mountains and wooden floor makes the space truly magical.

We are 100 percent fueled by the sun’s energy. There is a modern, ecological sewage treatment system. There are two sources of  water. The one that we use in the houses  comes from the city of Adeje. There is also mountain water that we use to water our ecological vegetable garden, the trees and flowers.

As the finca is situated high up on the side of a mountain, the views are amazing, the air is clean and delicious and tranquility and peace is all around. We are far away from the busy, touristic areas of the island  and yet we are still in the South of Tenerife where the weather is sunny and warm almost all year round.
